Scandoir: Scandinavian Inspired Retreats
Looking for a retreat with a difference? How about one where you can experience Scandinavian serenity while doing yoga and eating healthy delicious food... step up Scandoir, which organizes revitalising retreats ranging from week-long holidays in Scandinavia, to weekends in the UK and day retreats in London.
We spoke to the company's Swedish Founder Minna Skirgård to hear about the inspiration behind Scandoir, and find out what makes their retreats so special:
Where did Scandoir begin?
I set up Scandoir two years ago, leaving behind a career in finance to pursue something that felt more meaningful to me and which I could be really passionate about.
Living the hectic London life, and having worked in a high-pressured job, I saw so many people around me that seemed to need a better balance in life. Scandoir and the retreats are my way of giving people a springboard to a healthier, happier life - more of a long-term solution to restoring well-being than a conventional holiday.
When we think Scandinavia, most of us think pure, healthy, simple living, beautiful untouched nature and interesting culture. For me, this was the perfect inspiration for retreats which bring together my passion for yoga, vibrant healthy food and a tasteful, homely atmosphere.
You can expect a retreat experience way beyond the average. Scandoir work with some of the world’s best leaders in health and wellness to help guests rebalance and regain a complete sense of wellbeing.
Scandoir is organizing two yoga retreats in Sweden this summer. Both on a magical island outside Stockholm, the retreats include twice-daily yoga sessions, signature Scandi-style accommodation, a gourmet vegetarian food experience from Kimberly Parsons, founder of ‘Retreat Café’ as well as a day trip to Sandhamn, an idyllic nearby island in the Stockholm archipelago.
