Honey & Figs: Consuelo Morcillo
We have been huge fans of Consuelo, aka Honey and Figs since spotting her incredible porridge bowls on Instagram. Her creations are filled with delicious wholefoods and each post is a true masterpiece! That's why we were thrilled when Consuelo agreed to be part of our Pitch to Rich campaign and shared our Make Baobab Famous mission with her devoted followers, accompanied by a delicious baobab smoothie bowl. We thought now was the perfect time to catch up with Consuelo and find out more about this talented food blogger.
Describe yourself in a sentence... I'm a passionate foodie, lover of all things healthy, nutrition, sports and breakfast!
My love for food began... I've loved food ever since I was a very hungry one-year-old who would always devour everything in sight. However, it's been only three years since I got into cooking, thanks to a stay with an Irish family whom I'd help with cooking dinner (I'd never showed interest in helping my own family in the kitchen though oops!). Ever since I got home from my trip, I started to cook some meals for my family and friends, and eventually got into baking. Three years and lots of burnt food and broken dishes after, I'm now the one who does all the cooking at home... if only I could find someone who did the dishes for me!
My idea of food heaven is... TOAST. Lots of it!! Preferably in the form of multigrain sourdough (although, let's be honest, any kind of bread is a good bread) with lots of toppings: avocado, tomato, PB+Jelly, extra-virgin olive oil...
My Feel Good tips... Balance should be your #1 priority. Do drinks lots of water, keep active and eat your greens. But don't forget about resting, sweets (in the form of cookies please!) and going out. Remember that too much of a good thing is still too much! Don't obsess with being 100% healthy all the time, enjoy your life and keep a positive mindset all the time!
I’m inspired by... All the healthy bloggers and Instagrammers I follow. I can't help but love how positive they are, yet so real and down-to-earth at the same time.
Baobab or moringa? Can't choose! I guess I love me some baobab as an addition to pre-workout meals as it gives me a great kick of energy. Although nothing can beat moringa smoothies as a post-workout recovery treat. I love both!
