Move Your Frame!
Known for its feel good, energetic and fun-filled classes, London fitness chain Frame is a one-stop-shop for all things health and fitness. With studios in Shoreditch, Queens Park and a brand new site opening soon in Kings Cross, Frame is a place to move, sweat and fuel your frame daily - and we are big fans.
We spoke to co-founders Pip Black and Joan Murphy to find out more:
What’s different about Frame compared to other gyms & fitness studios?
When we opened the doors to FRAME Shoreditch in 2009, we wanted to create a more positive approach to health and fitness and offer more than just the regular gym session pounding the treadmill. All of the classes were developed on workouts and sequences that we loved and had fun creating. We know that like us, Framers lead busy lifestyles. Our ‘drop in’ and pay-as-you-go Frame Card model means that anyone can pop in for a class at a time that suits them whether it be on their way to work, during their lunch break or pre-brunch with friends. We offer a variety of classes from fitness workouts such as Cardio Kettlebells or Ass and Abs to Rocket Yoga, Dynamic Pilates and bespoke ‘Frame Signature’ classes.
What’s your fitness mantra?
Pip: We have a great quote on our feature wall at Frame Shoreditch, ‘Be bad until you’re good and good until you’re great.’ The message we want to get across is don’t worry if you’re not where you want to be from the moment you set out to do something, keep working at it and live for the journey!
Joan: 'Live for the journey not the destination.’ Pip and I have so much fun creating new concepts and classes and thinking of ways to constantly evolve. Working together makes the journey the BEST thing about our jobs and it’s so great to be able to share that.
You offer a wide variety of classes from yoga to dance. Which are the most popular?
Frame was put on Earth to make sure keeping fit and healthy never feels like a chore again. Our classes are energising and uplifting. Sweat it out with our high intensity Signature Classes. Dance, shake and party like it’s 1999 or peace out with our restorative classes for the mind. There’s a class at Frame to suit every BODY.
What are your top tips to help members get the most of their training?
It’s all about having fun and not taking things too seriously. Find a workout you love otherwise you won’t keep it up. Eat a healthy, balanced diet (almond butter is compulsory ;)) and just keep moving. We love a workout with some good music that’ll get us up and pumped. If we’re out, some of the places we love to grab some good food are Albion in Shoreditch and Tiosk Broadway Market. Healthy living doesn’t have to be a chore!
You are opening a new studio in Kings Cross. What new things can we expect?
Frame Kings Cross is the first immersive fitness space of its kind in London and the third site in Frame’s repertoire. Comprising three studios, a new Frame Shop and Fuel @ Frame cafe, its been created as a one-stop-shop for health and fitness. Kings Cross will herald the launch of two new Frame Signature classes; Bell and Box - a combination of Frame Kettlebells and boxing sequences, and Total Body - an intense 90 minute workout combining high-energy, heart racing cardio gliders and mat work.
