Why Aduna?I have been involved with Africa all my working life. My experiences working for both commercial and not-for-profit organisations have clearly shown me that Africa’s long-term economic development will come through trade not aid. If we are successful in our mission, Aduna will provide life-changing sustainable income to millions of households in rural Africa and the opportunity to help create this kind of impact is hugely inspiring and motivating to me. I have also seen time and again how misunderstood the continent is by those who don’t know it. I love that my job helps ensure Africa’s vitality, energy and vibrancy is known and appreciated throughout the world.
Bio:Sophie has ten years’ experience building brands and delivering strategic marketing and communications programmes for organisations of varying sizes, stages and sectors internationally and in Africa. Before joining Aduna, Sophie was Marketing & Communications Director for Jacana Partners, a private equity firm investing in SMEs in West and East Africa to create jobs and deliver social and financial returns. Prior to that, Sophie spent five years working in consumer PR for international communications agency Weber Shandwick, with a client list including Celtel, the Investment Climate Facility for Africa, ExxonMobil, Oxfam, Samsung and MasterCard.
