Unlike most ingredients, baobab cannot be farmed commercially. There are no plantations. The fruit grows wild on ancient trees across the African savannah, naturally drying on the branch under the sun until it reaches optimal maturity.

In 2014, we established a dedicated, vertically integrated supply chain in partnership with ORGIIS, a grassroots NGO based in northern Ghana. This infrastructure allows us to work directly at origin, ensuring full traceability, consistent quality, and fair value distribution. Each harvest season, we collaborate with over 3,000 women across the Upper East region of Ghana and southern Burkina Faso. The fruit is carefully collected by hand and transported to a local processing facility, where it is opened, deseeded, crushed and sieved into a fine powder.

This model is intentionally designed to deliver more than just an ingredient. It creates reliable, sustainable incomes in a region where economic opportunities are limited, while preserving indigenous tree populations and traditional harvesting practices. We maintain direct, ongoing relationships with our partner communities, visiting regularly to monitor operations, support development and ensure that the benefits of the growing global demand are shared locally.
