How To Use

Take 2 tablespoons (approximately 20g) daily.

Stir into hot milk for a rich cacao drink , add a pinch of cinnamon or honey if you prefer. Mix into overnight oats or porridge. Use in baking as an alternative to cocoa powder.

Aduna Super Cacao is not your average cocoa powder. It is independently tested every batch to verify its high flavanol content , the polyphenolic compounds in cacao scientifically proven to support heart health.

Most cacao sold in Europe is alkalised , a chemical process that dramatically reduces flavanol content. Ours is never alkalised. Every batch is tested to confirm it meets the threshold for verified cardiovascular health benefits.

Beyond heart health: magnesium supports the normal functioning of your nervous system. Iron and zinc may help support immune function and cognitive performance. Natural caffeine provides a gentle lift , roughly half that of a cup of coffee per serving.

Sourcing

Cacao sits within a vast global chocolate industry, yet much of its journey from bean to powder lacks transparency. While over 60% of the world's cocoa is grown in West Africa - primarily Ghana and Cote d'Ivoire - most processing takes place elsewhere, limiting traceability and local economic benefit.

Most cocoa on the market is "bulk" grade. This means a high-volume of beans blended across origins and processed into standardised powders. This model prioritises scale and consistency but sacrifices provenance, flavour complexity and supply chain visibility.

At Aduna, we take a different approach. We have worked for over ten years with a long-term partner in Ghana, sourcing single-origin cacao that is grown, harvested and processed locally before export. This ensures full traceability, supports local value creation and maintains tighter quality control.

Processing method is critical. Many conventional cocoa powders are alkalised - a chemical treatment that alters flavour and colour but significantly reduces flavanol content. Flavanols are the naturally occurring compounds linked to cardiovascular health, supporting normal blood flow. Our cacao is never alkalised. It is minimally processed to preserve its natural flavanols and nutritional integrity. We verify this through specialist laboratory testing to ensure consistent flavanol levels.

Safety is equally important. Cacao can contain heavy metals due to soil conditions, particularly cadmium in some regions. We rigorously test all batches and our Ghanaian cacao consistently shows very low levels, well within regulatory limits.

Is your Super Cacao tested for heavy metals?

Yes, and we test to prove it. Our Super Cacao is regularly tested by an independent third-party laboratory for heavy metals, including cadmium, lead, arsenic and mercury. The only heavy metal with a legal limit in cacao is cadmium, set by the EU and UK at 0.6mg/kg. Our latest results came in at just 0.149mg/kg, well within what's widely considered the "very low" range (under 0.3mg/kg). Lead, arsenic and mercury aren't specifically regulated in cacao, but we test for those too. Every batch comes back well within safe limits.

Our cacao is sourced from West Africa, where heavy metal levels in soil are naturally low and consistent, unlike cacao from some Latin American regions where higher cadmium levels are well documented.

How many flavanols are in a serving?

Based on independent lab analysis, a 20g serving of Aduna Super Cacao delivers around 400mg of flavanols on average. You'll notice our packaging states ">1000mg per 100g" rather than a fixed figure. That's to follow best-practice labelling guidelines and account for natural batch-to-batch variation. Every scoop is packed with the flavanols your heart, brain and body will love.

Will heating or baking with Super Cacao destroy the flavanols?

Not significantly. Flavanols are sensitive to heat, but most of the changes happen during the initial roasting of the cacao beans, long before the powder reaches you. Using Super Cacao in hot drinks, oats or baking may cause some further reduction, but it still retains a high level of beneficial antioxidants. For maximum flavanol retention, try stirring it into warm (not boiling) liquids, or adding it to overnight oats or energy bites.

How much Super Cacao should I take daily to feel the benefits?

A good place to start is 1 to 2 tablespoons (around 10 to 20g) per day, enough to enjoy the rich chocolate taste and feel the natural lift in energy, mood and circulation. Not certified, but it's as close as it gets. Our Super Cacao is made from specially selected high-flavanol beans. While the trees they grow on are occasionally located just outside certified organic zones, the cacao itself is 100% natural and grown completely free from pesticides. We prioritise flavanol quality and ethical sourcing over certification labels, because what's inside the bag matters most.
