As much as we love Nutella, we're not such a fan of all the sugar, oil and other unnecessary add-ins. We think the combination of hazelnuts and chocolate are a match made in heaven and don't need much else to really shine. Our healthy Nutella is made with a handful of ingredients, free from dairy and refined sugar - and we think it is even tastier than the original! Plus it's packed with flavanols, protein, fibre, magnesium and potassium thanks to the Super Cacao so it is a far more nutritious alternative.
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp Aduna Super Cacao Powder
- 3 cups (approximately 400g) raw hazelnuts
- 2 tbsp maple syrup or honey*
- ½ tsp salt (optional)
*Note: The more sweetener you add, the thicker/stiffer the Nutella will be.
Method
- Preheat oven to 180°C (160°C fan/gas mark 4).
- Spread the hazelnuts in a single layer on a baking tray and roast for approximately 12 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and leave to cool slightly.
- Transfer to a large tea towel and roll the nuts around to remove most of the skins.
- Add the skinned nuts to a food processor or high-powered blender and blend until very runny (this can take up to 10 minutes).
- Add the Super Cacao Powder, maple syrup or honey, and salt (if using) and blend again.
- Transfer to a jar and store at room temperature.
