Baobab For Immunity: Your First Line Of Defence Against Winter Colds

For those of us in the Northern hemisphere, winter brings with it the dreaded cold and flu season. Prevention is the best way to stop any sore throats and coughs in their tracks - by keeping our immune systems nice and strong.

High in vitamin C and antioxidants, Baobab Powder is nature's remedy for a strong immune system. Unlike most animals that produce their own vitamin C, the human body does not. This means we must top up our vitamin C daily through the foods we eat.

Baobab contains 6 x the vitamin C of an orange - a single serving provides  33% of your daily requirement. As a natural source of vitamin C, baobab is more easily digested by the body and generally much more bioavailable than manufactured vitamin C tablets, ensuring a greater uptake.

In addition, a large portion of immune activity actually takes place in our intestines and healthy gut flora can prevent viruses from getting into our blood stream. With this in mind, it's very important to support our digestive systems, and with nearly 50% prebiotic fibre, baobab can help keep your tummy happy!

Baobab Powder tastes just like zingy sherbet. Add 2-3 teaspoons into smoothies or juices, shake into your water bottle or sprinkle onto yoghurt, overnight oats, porridge or fruit salad. Don't forget to super-charge your kids breakfasts too - they will love the flavour and will get a better supply of vitamin C than by taking manufactured supplements.

One of our favourite ways to feel the #baobablove everyday throughout the winter is to mix it with lemon & ginger - two ingredients known for their anti-bacterial properties. Simply add a couple of teaspoons of Baobab Powder into your mug with a little hot water. Stir well to make a paste and then top up with hot water, a generous  squeeze of lemon and a slice of ginger. Or for the easy version, sip on a cup of our Lemon, Ginger & Baobab Tea.
