Pura Vida: Homemade Friendship Bracelets from Costa Rica
We recently stumbled across Pura Vida and couldn't wait to feature them in Aduna Loves! Started by two best friends from California, Pura Vida make beautiful bracelets inspired by the Costa Rican philosophy of enjoying life to the fullest whilst providing jobs to local artisans.
Five years ago Paul and Griffin made a trip to Costa Rica where they met two bracelet peddlers named Jorge and Joaquin. They fell in love with the Costa Rican way of life and with the handmade bracelets their new friends were making. Feeling inspired, and having seeing that Jorge and Joaquin were living in extreme poverty, Paul and Griffin decided to buy 400 bracelets off them and bring them back to America to sell, and the rest is history. Today, Pura Vida bracelets are worn by people all over the world.
Each colourful bracelet is carefully handcrafted by local artisans in Costa Rica. Pura Vida are now working with over 100 craftspeople and providing them with full-time jobs. They also lend their support to different causes all over the world - 1% of their annual net revenue goes to environmental organisations worldwide and so far they have partnered with over 190 charities.

The name Pura Vida came from an old traditional saying in Costa Rica, which is Spanish for 'pure life'. A positive, laid-back saying that acknowledges how wonderful life is. Beyond it's translation many people often see 'pura vida' as more than a just a saying; it's a way of life! Pura Vida use each of their handmade bracelets to remind people not to take life too seriously.
Check out the Pura Vida website to see their huge range of bracelets and choose your favourite - we want them all!
