Dalton Wong: The Feel Good Plan

London-based health & fitness expert and celebrity trainer Dalton Wong has long been a friend of Aduna (and a big Baobab and Moringa fan!) so we're especially delighted to introduce his new book The Feelgood Plan to our Tribers. We caught up with Dalton to hear all about it and get some extra feel good tips! Enter for a chance to win a copy of the book at the bottom of this post...

What can we expect from your new book The Feelgood Plan

It's not a diet book for a start. The Feelgood Plan is all about a lifestyle that allows you to enjoy living.  No strict rules, not a fad diet with omitted foods, or an extreme exercise regime but a practical way of living life. The book has various tips and “real world" advice that anybody can use: from what to eat, to what to buy at the grocery store, how to handle cravings, what exercise plan works best for you and how to relax and enjoy a restful night's sleep.

What inspired you to write the book?

My daughter Indigo. I want her to grow up to be a strong, independent woman.  I want her to have the tools to be able to be confident in her body and enjoy life to the full.

Do you have 3 simple tips for a happy, healthier day?

1) Find something you're passionate about. If you can find a kind of exercise or a sport that you're passionate about then you will never have a problem motivating yourself to do it.

2) Take 15 minutes a day for yourself and nobody else. Spend the time listening to your favourite music, exercising, stretching or calling your best friend to catch up. This 15 minutes of YOU time will pay dividends in all aspects of your life – personal, family and career.

3) Banish the guilt. Nobody cares except you! If you missed a workout then tomorrow is another day, if you over-indulged then you're only 1 meal away from being back on The Feelgood Plan!

What do you enjoy most about your job?

Being able to see different people and personalities daily and enjoying that human interaction. I’m also very fortunate to coach clients in achieving their goals and teaching them to live a Feelgood life.

How do you keep yourself in shape?

I train Brazillan Jiu Jitsu 3x a week at the Roger Gracie Academy in London. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is one of my great passions besides my family and work and it also keeps me humble and in shape. The other 2 days I spend doing resistance training and also working on my flexibility. The older I get the more I realise that you need to find a balance in your approach to exercise: covering strength, cardio, posture and flexibility.

Do you add any superfoods to your diet?

I travel a great deal and it's not always easy to get my green smoothie or juice out and about. I always carry Moringa sachets in my toiletry bag for those times. It’s so easy to use, just open up a sachet, add to a bottle and I’m good to go.
