LIFEINSATIABLE: AJ Srinivasan
Aduna Feel Good Triber Aj, more commonly known in the online health world as LIFEINSATIABLE, aims to change the vegan blogging game with her creative flair and flavoursome dishes.
We caught up with Aj to find out more about her, her feel good advice and her favourite super-ingredient:
Describe yourself in a sentence…I am a big ball of energy from Dubai, living in Surrey and always looking for an opportunity to bring smiles and sunshine everywhere I go.
My love for food began...at a very early stage in my childhood. Being brought up in a joint family in India, the women of the household have all aided my creative flair in the kitchen. My grandma would always have me on the side of her hip whilst she cooked up a feast for guests that were always visiting from around the world. She would get me to make dosas, idlis and add in ingredients to sambaar which is a beautiful South Indian lentil dish. Cooking and creating dishes was in all honesty an accident after I moved to London to attend university. It soon took an experimental route and slowly became healthier once I transitioned to a plant based lifestyle. Creating healthy, nutritious and tasty food for my family is something I do not take for granted, especially since becoming a mother. "Every bite counts" is the motto for every meal we are blessed with.
My idea of food heaven is…either a crisp dosa with a big bowl of sambar, dhal and roti and a glass of turmeric mylk. Certain tastes, spices and aroma always take me back to some amazing moment and on a cold evening these are meals I always reach for. It straight away puts a smile on all the faces of my family... what more could I possibly want?
My Feel Good advice...wake up with a smile - it stimulates you straight away. Get intimate with nature - head to your nearest park or National Trust and take a walk breathing in deeply for a few seconds, opening up those lungs. And smile while doing it! Do something that you love everyday - for me it's dancing!
I am inspired by...nature. Anywhere we go, it’s a must for me to be close to nature. Mountains, desert dunes, woodlands or the ocean. Nature has taught me to be fearless, to stand tall no matter the challenges, to be non-judgmental and to stay as calm as possible. Taking a 10 minute walk or having a quick yoga practice at a National Trust or a nearby park, clears my head and gives me a sense of freedom which I'm truly grateful for every day.
Baobab, Moringa or Super-Cacao? Oh gosh! This is a tough one but I have to go with Super-Cacao because this one is a fond favourite of my son!
